Jul 04, 2024

azeem to meet with msn over olympic prep

Malaysian sprint star Azeem Fahmi will soon meet with the National Sports Council and National Sports Institute, to help him prepare for the Paris Olympics.

It involves his training regime, and continued rehabilitation for a few minor injuries that he sustained earlier.

This, after Azeem was given a wildcard to compete at the Olympics after failing to qualify on merit.

The Youth and Sports Ministry will channel an additional RM300,000 financial grant to our professional athletes who'll be competing in the Paris Olympics.

The aid is being channeled to independent badminton stars Lee Zii Jia and Goh Jin Wei, as well as pro golfers Gavin Green and Ashley Lau.

It's to ease their financial burdens as they continue their preparations and training for the Olympics.

Meanwhile, Malaysia's Olympic Chef de Mission says our contingent will wear Baju Melayu inspired attire for the Paris Games’ opening ceremony.

The outfit was designed by famed fashion designers Rizman Ruzaini, who previously worked with celebrities including Lady Gaga and Naomi Campbell.

England could reportedly switch formations for their Euro 2024 quarterfinal against Switzerland, amid criticism over the team's form so far.

It's believed that boss Gareth Southgate will revert to a three-man defence, which helped England reach the 2018 World Cup semifinals.

--

Former Man United boss Alex Ferguson says he expects Cristiano Ronaldo to announce his retirement from international football after Euro 2024.

He says he doubts that Ronaldo will continue to represent Portugal at the next World Cup, as he expects the game to become even faster and more athletic over the next few years.
