Barca Close In On La Liga Title

May 12, 2025

barca close in on la liga title

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick wants his team to stay focused and work on their defence, as they close in on the La Liga title.

This, after they fought back from 2 goals down to beat Real Madrid 4-3 in last night's Classico.

The result means that Barca are 7 points ahead of second-laced Real with just three matches remaining.

They could even seal the title without kicking a ball, IF Real fail to beat Mallorca in their next game on Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, last night's match also earned Flick a place in Barca's history books, as he became their first boss after Pep Guardiola to win four consecutive Classico matches against Real.

--

Newcastle have given their Champions League qualification hopes a massive boost, after they beat 10-man Chelsea 2-0 in the EPL.

The result moves Newcastle up to 3rd place in the standings, just one point ahead of 4th-placed Manchester City.

Meanwhile Chelsea are in 5th place, ahead of Aston Villa on goal difference.

--

Outgoing Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso says an announcement will soon be made about his future plans.

This comes amid his continued links with Real Madrid.

--

Malaysian shuttler Cheah Liek Hou has won two titles at the Para Badminton International in Dubai.

He claimed the singles crown as well as the doubles title alongside Fareez Anuar.
