Oct 13, 2025

pearly & thinaah are arctic open champs

Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah are the Arctic Badminton Open champions.

They took the women’s doubles crown with a dominant straight sets victory over Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi of Japan.

This is Pearly and Thinaah’s second title of the year, after winning the Thailand Open back in May.

Meanwhile, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik have finished as Arctic Open runners-up…after going down to Ben Lane and Sean Vendy of England in a hard-fought men’s doubles final.

-

Still on our athletes…Malaysia managed to hold Australia to a 1-1 draw in their second match at the Sultan of Johor Hockey Cup.

-

Elsewhere, Ghana are the latest team to qualify for next year’s World Cup, after a 1-1 win over Comoros in their final qualifier.

They are the fifth African nation to secure a place at next year’s tournament after Algeria, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.

-

Zinedine Zidane has finally confirmed his intention to become France head coach, although the former World Cup winning captain did not set a timeline for his return to the national team.

-

And, Brazil star Endrick is set for a shock exit from Real Madrid…with Juventus reportedly keen on the 19 year old, who has struggled for game time at the Spanish giants.
