The Badminton Association of Malaysia needs to appoint a full-time sports psychologist, to help improve our shutters’ performances.

Former BAM high-performance director Datuk James Selvaraj told the NST, such a post can help boost their mental strength and concentration.

He said this after Pearly Tan/M. Thinaah suffered a shock opening round defeat at the Japan masters last night.

Meanwhile, mixed doubles 2nd seeds, Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei also crashed out in Japan, after losing their opening game against a duo from Thailand today.

However, Goh Soon Huat/Shevon Lai advanced to round two, alongside men's doubes aces Aaron Chia/Sooh Wooi Yik.
