More Sports Psychologists For LA 2028 Athletes

Nov 15, 2024

more sports psychologists for la 2028 athletes

The Youth and Sports Ministry wants to increase the number of sports psychologists to help prepare our athletes for the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics.

Minister Hannah Yeoh says the target is to have two psychologists for every ten athletes in the Podium and backup programs.

Currently, we only have a total of seven in-house sports psychologists, which is not enough to meet the mental health needs of our participants during major competitions.

In a related development, the ministry is looking into introducing a code of conduct for national athletes.

This will include general guidelines on their use of social media during major events like the Olympics and Paralympics to ensure the participants remain focused on their competitions.
