Aug 21, 2024

sukma 2024: johor's umar shines in 400m

Johor runner Umar Osman continued to shine in today's track and field events.

His gold medal in the men's 400m saw him set a new SUKMA record time of 46.78 seconds.

However, he fell short of the national record, which Umar set in last year's World University Games in China.

Meanwhile, Melaka's Shayna Marianne Periera Jesindran took the gold medal in the women's 400m, with a time of 57.74s.

Hosts Sarawak continue to dominate the overall standings at the 2024 SUKMA Games.

At last look, the Hornbill state was on 54 gold medals.

The Federal Territories remain in second place on 43 gold, while Terengganu, Selangor and Johor round up the top five.

Close to 2,500 cops will be on duty around the Bukit Jalil stadium for this weekend's Piala FA final between JDT and Selangor FC.

KL police say they will be tasked with maintaining security and directing traffic.

The city's police chief also reminded fans to avoid any provocations that could lead to crowd trouble.
