Atalanta End Leverkusen's Treble Dream

May 23, 2024

atalanta end leverkusen's treble dream

Atalanta have won their first major trophy in 61 years…after beating Bayer Leverkusen 3-0 in this morning’s Europa League final.

Ademola Lookman was the hero for the Italian club, with a stunning hattrick.

The victory ends Leverkusen’s run of 51-games without defeat in all competitions.

It also ends their dream of a treble this season, although the Bundesliga champions could still win the German Cup final this weekend.

-

German sources say Bayern Munich are now in advanced talks to sign Burnley manager Vincent Kompany.

This, as the Bundesliga giants struggle to find a replacement for Thomas Tuchel…with Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick all turning down the job.

-

Malaysia have won both the doubles and regu titles at the Sepak Takraw World Cup…with straight sets victories over Thailand in the respective finals.

-

Datuk Azizulhasni Awang has defended the men’s elite Keirin title at the National Track Cycling Championships …in what is likely to be the 36-year-old’s last appearance at the local tournament.

-

And, Malaysia are through to the next round of the Indoor Hockey Asia Cup…after our men’s team defeated Indonesia 5-4 in their group tie.
