The Sultan of Selangor has rebuked the Malaysian Football League for punishing Selangor FC for pulling out of the Charity Shield.  

His Majesty, who is Selangor FC’s patron said the RM100,000 fine and points deduction was excessive given the circumstances of the withdrawal.  

The club made the decision due to security concerns following Faisal Halim’s acid attack.  

Meanwhile, MFL says Selangor has 4 days appeal against the decision, and after that the club are within their rights to take the matter the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Portugal skipper Cristiano Ronaldo will not be rested for their final Euro 2024 Group F match against Georgia, even though they’ve already qualified for the last-16. 

It was thought that the 39-year-old could sit out the game, to keep him fresh for the knockout stage.  

Meanwhile, Turkey are up against the Czech Republic.

The defending champions are 3 points ahead of Canada, who had a 1-0 win over Peru.
