In a related development, former national shuttler Datuk Lee Chong Wei says he’s disappointed that some of our players have suffered online abuse after making their Olympic exit.
The Malaysian badminton legend says no player goes onto the court to lose…adding that we all need to stand behind our athletes in victory and defeat.
Meanwhile, national swimmer Phee Jinq En has set a new national record in the women’s 100m breaststroke event.
She set a time of 1 minute 8.4 seconds in the heats…which is also a new personal best.
Jinq En didn’t make it into the semifinals, but finished 29th out of 43 competitors in the overall rankings.
This, as Farah Ann Abdul Hadi finished 68th out of 85 competitors in the artistic gymnastics individual all-round qualifiers, in what was her first ever Olympic appearance.
