man united win the efl cup

Man United have won their first trophy since 2017, after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle in the EFL Cup final this morning.

United secured the victory in the first half, via a Casemiro strike and a Magpies own-goal.

Casemiro’s efforts this morning also earned him the Man of the Match award.

This is manager Erik Ten Hag’s first piece of silverware, in his debut season in charge of the Red Devils.

In the Premier League, Tottenham recorded a 2-0 win over 10th-placed Chelsea.

The Blues are now without a win in February and have only won once in their last 11 matches in all competitions.

Over in the French League, Kylian Mbappe netted a brace, while Lionel Messi scored in between as PSG enjoyed a 3-0 win over Marseille.

Mbappe’s goals make him the club’s joint all-time top scorer, equaling Edinson Cavani’s record of 200 goals.

Messi, meanwhile, scored the 700th goal of his senior club career.

And in La Liga, Barcelona failed to extend their lead at the top of the table after suffering a shock 1-0 defeat to 15th-placed Almeria.
