Villarreal pip Man United to win the Europa League

Villarreal have won the Europa League, after a dramatic 11-10 penalty shootout victory over Man United in this morning’s final.

The match went to spot kicks after being tied at 1-1 after regulation and extra-time.

Both clubs managed to convert their first 10 penalties, meaning the goalkeepers had to step up to take their side’s 11th kicks.

Villareal’s Geronimo Rulli managed to find the net with his shot, before saving the effort by his opposite number David De Gea.

This is Villarreal’s first ever major trophy, while United are still waiting for their first piece of silverware under Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

Multiple reports say Zinedine Zidane has stepped down as Real Madrid manager with immediate effect.

It comes after the Spanish giants finished the recent season empty-handed.

Insiders say the Frenchman has already informed the players about his decision, with the club to make an official announcement soon.

This, as Antonio Conte resigned as Inter Milan boss, having just recently guided them to the Serie A title.

There is now speculation that Conte could move to Real to replace Zidane...while he has also been linked with the vacant Tottenham job.
