World Cup Qualifiers: Olmo fires Spain to a late win over Georgia

Spain needed a late goal to pull off a 2-1 victory over Georgia in their World Cup qualifier this morning.
The match appeared to be heading for a draw before Dani Olmo fired in a long-range strike in injury-time.
This is Spain’s first win of the qualifying campaign…having been held to a draw by Greece in their opening match.
In selected World Cup qualifiers…
Holders France overcame Kazakhstan 2-0.
England beat Albania also 2-0.
Germany maintained their perfect start to their campaign with a 1-0 win over Romania.
While Italy defeated Bulgaria 2-0.

Lewis Hamilton has won the season-opening Bahrain F1 GP.
The reigning world champion survived a late challenge by Max Verstappen to take the chequered flag ahead of the Red Bull driver… with Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate Valtteri Bottas finishing third.

Malaysia’s Mohd Shah Firdaus Sahrom got the better of his senior Azizulhasni Awang to take the men’s Keirin gold at the Australian National Track Cycling Championships.
Azizul – who is also the defending champion – took the silver.
