Malaysia Agrees To Host 2027 SEA Games

malaysia agrees to host 2027 sea games

Malaysia has officially agreed to accept the invitation to host the 2027 SEA Games.

According to the Youth and Sports Ministry, the government reached the decision after considering the offer from Sarawak, Sabah and Penang to share costs and co-host the event with KL.

The 2027 edition will be our seventh time hosting the SEA Games, which were last held here in 2017.

Separately, the National Sports Council says its closely monitoring the Mpox situation, ahead of next month’s Le Tour De Langkawi cycling race.

It says there are currently no plans to make testing compulsory for participating foreign teams, adding that it will follow the instructions of the Health Ministry on the matter.

In other developments back home, the Cabinet has decided that ministers and deputy ministers are barred from holding the presidency of any sports organization...to avoid any conflict of interest.

Man United are reportedly considering a late bid for Brentford striker Ivan Toney.

Chelsea and Saudi side Al Ahli are also in the race for the England international.

Insiders say the Red Devils have already opened preliminary talks about a possible move, which has to be completed before this weekend’s transfer deadline.

Holders Liverpool have been drawn to face West Ham in the third round of the EFL Cup.

Other noteworthy matchups will see Arsenal taking on Bolton…while Man United are up against Barnsley.

And Atletico Madrid were held to a goalless La Liga draw by Espanyol this morning...leaving Diego Simeone’s side fourth in the standings.
