The result ends City’s recent run of two straight defeats across all competitions.

In other selected Premier League results Newcastle hammered Everton 4-1.

Brentford overcame Burnley 3-1.

Sunderland edged past Bournemouth 3-2.

While Tottenham lost 2-1 to Fulham, in what was their 10th defeat at home this calendar year.

Over in Spain, Barcelona came from behind to beat Alaves 3-1 to go top of La Liga.

Elsewhere, AC Milan have gone top of the Serie A standings after a 1-0 win over Lazio.

The Speedy Tigers will next face New Zealand today in the playoff for third place.

Malaysia is guaranteed of the men’s doubles title at the Indian Badminton International, after the pairs of Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai and Chia Weijie-Lwi Sheng Hao both made today’s final.
