Aston Villa are up into second in the EPL standings after a 3-2 win over Burnley.

Unai Emery’s side are now level on points with leaders Liverpool, but have played one game more than the Reds.

This is Villa’s best run in the premiership at this stage of the competition since 1999.

In other selected EPL results…Man City moved up into third place after a 2-0 win over Sheffield United.

Chelsea recorded back-to-back wins after beating Luton 3-2.

While Man United ended 2023 with a defeat, going down 2-1 to Nottingham Forest.

-

Over in the Serie A…second-placed Juventus had a 1-0 win over Roma…while AC Milan edged past Sassuolo also by a goal to nil.

-

Veteran Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris has joined Major League Soccer side Los Angeles FC on a free transfer.

The Frenchman spent 11 years at Spurs, but has not played since April after falling out of favour.

-

And, back home…the BAM says there are no plans at the moment to submit a bid to host the 2026 Thomas and Uber Cup Finals.

This, amid reports that the BWF is struggling to attract interested host countries.
