Dec 23, 2020

Defending champions Man City have eased into the EFL Cup semi finals, with a 4-1 win over Arsenal.

Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Aymeric Laporte scored for City, while Alexandre Lacazette  netted Arsenal’s consolation.

Earlier, Championship Division club Brentford reached the semis for the first time, after beating Newcastle 1-nil.

Messi sats new record

Barcelona have beaten Valladolid (Vaya-do-lid) 3-nil, in this morning's La Liga match.

Lionel Messi scored his 644th goal for Barca, to break Pele's record of the most goals for one club.

In Italy, Juventus fell to their first league defeat of the season, after going down 3-nil to Fiorentina.

This means that rivals AC Milan are now the only unbeaten team in any of Europe's top 5 leagues.

It's all about the money

Barcelona are reportedly looking to offload Philip Coutinho next month, to avoid making a massive bonus payment to his former club Liverpool.

This, as Barca continue to struggle financially, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Reports say under the terms of the move, Barca will have to pay Liverpool another 20 million euros if Coutinho plays 100 games for the Catalan giants.

He is currently on 88 appearances.
