FIFA looks at new outline for expiring contracts and transfer window

Mar 27, 2020

FIFA has reportedly suggested extending current contracts for players and coaches, until the end of the delayed domestic football seasons.

According to Reuters, it’s also recommending transfer windows be changed in accordance with new season dates, and urges clubs and players to work together, to find solutions to salary payments during stoppages.

No decision on the issues has been made as of yet, but discussions are underway.

English FA hopeful of completing FA Cup

The English FA says it hopes to complete this season’s FA Cup when it’s “safe and appropriate to do so.”

All English football has been suspended until at least April 30th due to the coronavirus pandemic, although the FA has extended the season indefinitely, in a bid to finish the 2019-20 campaign.

While no decision has yet been made on how or when the Premier League and other elite competitions might conclude, the news came as the FA announced the end of several non-league seasons.

Justin Gatlin still optimistic of another Olympic gold

Former Olympic and world 100m champion Justin Gatlin believes he can win gold at the Tokyo Olympics, despite the fact he’ll be 39 when the postponed Games takes place.

The American won gold at Athens 2004 and the world title in London in 2017, when he shocked a retiring Usain Bolt.

Gatlin insists he will not wear himself out during this extra year of preparation, adding that he could even continue beyond 2021.
