Hamilton Demoted for Austrian GP

Jun 30, 2019

Lewis Hamilton has been demoted from the front row for tonight's Austrian F1 GP.

The Mercedes driver had qualified for the race in 2nd place, but was handed a 3 place grid penalty, for blocking Alfa Romeo's Kimi Raikkonen in an earlier session.

However, Hamilton will start the race in fourth place, instead of fifth, because of grid penalties handed out to other drivers.

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc will start on pole position, ahead of Red Bull's Max Verstappen and Mercedes's Valtteri Bottas.

Uruguay have crashed out of the Copa America, after losing 5-4 on penalties to Peru in the quarterfinals.

It was a frustrating match for Uruguay star Luis Suarez, as he missed the first penalty, after earlier having a goal ruled out for offside.

The result means Peru will face Chile in the semifinals, while the other semi will see Brazil against arch-rivals Argentina.

Chelsea have accidentally confirmed the signing of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic on a permanent deal.

The Blues have yet to officially announce the news, but an interview with the player to coincide with the signing was prematurely posted on their official website.

Kovacic spent the last season on loan at Stamford Bridge, and was widely expected to make the move permanent this summer.
