May 29, 2020

After a three-month shutdown due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the Premier League is finally set to return to action on June 17th.

The reopening, however, is subject to government approval, and requires strict safety conditions being met.

Among these conditions, are that matches be played behind closed doors.

The first two fixtures will see Aston Villa taking on Sheffield United, followed by the big clash between Man City and Arsenal.

A full round of fixtures would then take place on the weekend of the 19th.

Unlike before though, the remaining matches of the season are set to be played on any day of the week, with 92 games in total left to be played this campaign.

Liverpool are currently just two wins away from their first title in 30 years, while Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Norwich are in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, the Italian government has given the green light for the Serie A season to resume on June 20th.

However, the approval comes with the condition that teams will be quarantined for two weeks, if any player or staff member tests positive for Covid-19.
