Liew Darren crashes out of Malaysian Badminton Open

National shuttler Liew Darren has crashed out in the 1st round of the Malaysian Badminton Open.

He lost to 4th seed Viktor Axelsen from Denmark, in straight sets.

This, as Malaysia's top women's doubles pair Vivian Hoo and Woon Khe Wei also crashed out.

Both the Malaysian pair and their Chinese opponents had one set apiece in their 1st round match, but they lost a closely contested 3rd set 28-26. 

However, compatriots Chow Mei Kuan and Lee Meng Yean progressed to the 2nd round.

Meanwhile, men's doubles pair Ong Yew Sin and Teo Ee Yi stunned a 6th seeded duo from Denmark.
