Liverpool could have signed Ronaldo on the cheap!

Former Liverpool assistant manager Phil Thompson admits that the Reds were close to signing Cristiano Ronaldo in 2003.

Thompson told The Athletic that Liverpool were offered the chance to sign Ronaldo for just 4 million pounds.

However they were put off by his wage demands, of 1 million pounds a year. 

Ronaldo went on to join Manchester United just a week later, and the rest is history.

Liverpool could drop out of title race by next month

Liverpool legend Jamie Carrager has warned that the EPL champions could drop out of this season's title race by the end of next month, if their current run of bad form continues. 

This morning's 1-nil loss to Burnley extended the Reds's winless run to 5 Premier League games. 

They also failed to score in four league matches for the first time in nearly 21 years.

Japan: Tokyo Olympics is still on

Japan's govt insists that the Tokyo Olympics WILL go ahead as scheduled later this year. 

It was responding to a recent report, which claimed that the govt has accepted that the competition cannot be held due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. 

The report also claimed that Tokyo will instead look to host the next available games, in 2032.
