Liverpool edge Sheffield Utd to continue winning Premier League run

Sep 29, 2019

Liverpool have maintained their perfect start to the Premier League season, with a 1-nil away win over Sheffield United.

The hosts weren't an easy feat last night, but it was Georginio Wijnaldum who managed to find the back of the net.

Jurgen Klopp's side have now won 16 consecutive top-flight games, and are 5 points ahead of second-placed Man City.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have moved up to sixth in the table, with a 2-nil win over Brighton.

Jorginho and Willian got on the scoresheet, to make nine wins out of nine league games against Brighton - an all-time EPL record.

The previous record for wins against one team in the league was Wimbledon's 100% success rate against Bournemouth, in eight meetings between 1977 and 1984.

In other selected results:
Man City thumped Everton 3-1.
Tottenham edged Southampton 2-1.
Crystal Palace defeated Norwich 2-nil.

Charles Leclerc takes fourth pole in Russia

Charles Leclerc has taken his fourth consecutive pole position at the Russian F1 GP, ahead of Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and his Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel.

The 22-year-old is the first driver to achieve the feat since Hamilton in 2016, and the first Ferrari driver to do so since Michael Schumacher in 2001.
