Liverpool win FIFA Club World Cup

Liverpool have won the FIFA Club World Cup after a narrow 1-0 win over Brazilian club Flamengo in the final in Qatar.

Bobby Firminho struck the winner in extra time, as the Reds became only the second English team to win the trophy since Manchester United in 2008.

The victory also ensured Liverpool a treble of Champions League, European Super Cup and Club World Cup titles.

City keep up the pressure

In selected Premiership results...Man City fought back from a goal down to beat Leicester 3-1
Sheffield United edged Brighton 1-0
Newcastle defeated Crystal Palace also 1-0
While Everton and Arsenal played out a goalless draw. 

Toffees confirm Ancelotti

This came as Everton confirmed the signing of Carlo Ancelotti as their new permanent manager.

He takes over from the sacked Marco Silva, with interim boss Duncan Ferguson to be absorbed into Ancelotti's backroom staff.

The Italian's first match in charge will be the Toffees' home game against Burnley on Boxing Day.

Messi does it again...

And, over in La Liga... Lionel Messi netted his 50th goal of 2019 as Barcelona thrashed Alaves 4-1.

It also ensures that Barca remain unbeaten at home so far this year.
