Man City have won the League Cup...beating Chelsea 4-3 on penalties after the final finished goalless at the end of extra time.

Its City's first trophy of the season...in their attempt to win the quadruple of Premiership, FA Cup, League Cup and Champions League titles.

The final, however, will best be remembered for a bizzare incident towards the end of the match, when Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga refused to be substituted before the shootout, despite suffering from cramp.

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, however, brushed off the incident, saying it was merely a misunderstanding.

It was a match that saw both sides suffer from key injuries - the Reds lost Roberto Firminho after only 30 minutes, while United had Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard all taken off injured.

The result leaves Liverpool one point ahead of Man City...while United drop down to fifth.

This, as Arsenal capitalized on the events at Old Trafford to move back up to fourth, courtesy of a comfortable 2-nil win over Southampton.
