Messi nets 700th goal as Barca falter

Jul 01, 2020

Lionel Messi has become only the seventh footballer ever to officially score 700 goals for club and country.

This, as the Barcelona star netted from the penalty spot, in their 2-2 La Liga draw with Atletico Madrid this morning.

Messi now joins an illustrious group that includes legendary goalscorers like Ferenc Puskas, Gerd Muller, Pele, Romario, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Unfortunately, Barcelona’s draw this morning leaves them one point behind La Liga leaders Real Madrid, who have a game in hand.

United push for Champions League spot

Manchester United remain in the race for a top-four Premiership finish, after a comfortable 3-0 away win over Brighton this morning.

Mason Greenwood opened the scoring early on, before Bruno Fernandes sealed the win with a goal in either half.

It leaves the Red Devils fifth in the standings, two points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea.

The win also extends United’s unbeaten run in all competitions to 15 matches.

Sane bound for Munich

Manchester City have agreed to sell winger Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich, in a deal that could reach just under 55 million pounds.

Sane was a key part of the City squad that won the domestic treble last season, but has spent much of the current campaign on the sidelines due to injury.
