SOP for swimming still being discussed

Jun 10, 2020

The Youth and Sports Ministry will soon hold talks with national swimming officials on the return of the sport at the earliest possible time.

Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican says it’s still fine-tuning the SOPs to be presented to the Health Ministry and the National Security Council for approval.

Under the Recovery Movement Control Order, contact sports athletes will be allowed to return to training from June 15th, but the fate of swimmers remains to be seen.

Man City stand by valuation of Leroy Sane

Manchester City have reportedly rejected Bayern Munich’s latest offer for winger Leroy Sane, and are standing firm with their valuation of the player.

Talks last week ended with Bayern being told City want around 62 million pounds for him, with Bayern's latest offer coming in at 36 million.

24-year-old Sane has long been linked with a move back to his native Germany, and it’s understood Bayern are determined to push the deal through.

The German champions wanted to sign him last year, but he suffered a serious knee injury and has not played since the 2019/20 campaign.

Pep Guardiola's former coach replaces Mikel Arteta as assistant

Separately, City have named Spanish coach Juan Manuel Lillo as the new assistant to Pep Guardiola, replacing Mikel Arteta.

Strangely enough, the 54-year-old had coached Guardiola at the end of the City manager's playing career, when the pair were at Mexican side Dorados.

Lillo also previously worked with Andres Iniesta and David Villa at Vissel Kobe in Japan, and ex-City midfielder Yaya Toure in China.
