Serena Williams overtakes Roger Federer for most grand slam wins

Serena Williams has overtaken Roger Federer in the list of all-time grand slam victories, with 308 match-wins.

This after she beat Kazakhstan's Yaroslava Shvedova for a place in the US Open quarterfinals, but her sister Venus was beaten by Karolina Pliskova.

Serena will next face Simona Halep, who got past Carla Suarez Navarro.

In the men's category, Stan Wawrinka has set up a quarter-final showdown with former champion Juan Martin del Potro, after both players won their respective 4th round matches.

Kei Nishikori also reached the last 8 and will face Andy Murray, who beat Grigor Dimitrov.
