Aston Villa moved out of the Premiership relegation zone for the first time since February with a surprise 1-0 win over Arsenal this morning.

Trezeguet netted the winner for the Villains in the first half.

Arsenal's defeat means they will finish outside of the top six for the first time in 25 years.

As for Villa, they are now out of the bottom three, with only goal difference separating them from 18th placed Watford, who suffered a 4-0 thrashing at the hands of Man City.

The win takes City’s goal tally for the season to 97, leaving them one match to reach or exceed the 100-goal mark this season.

Blanc for Barca?

Sources say Barcelona are considering appointing ex-PSG boss Laurent Blanc as their manager for one season.

He will serve on an interim basis until Barca can appoint their number one target – former midfielder Xavi - who’s currently in charge at Qatari side Al Sadd.

This, as the Catalan giants look set to fire current boss Quique Setien, following a disappointing season in which they lost the La Liga title to Real Madrid.
