Wolves reach Europa League quarterfinals

Aug 07, 2020

Wolves are through to the Europa League quarterfinals after beating Olympiacos 1-nil this morning.

A 9th minute penalty from Raul Jimenez was enough to give them a 2-1 aggregate win.

They will take on Sevilla, who defeated Roma 2-nil

That match was played in the neutral venue of Duisburg, Germany, as the first leg in March had to be called off due to COVID-19.

In other matches, Bayer Leverkusen beat Rangers 1-nil this morning, and 4-1 on aggregate - they will face Inter Milan in the last-8.

And Basel posted a 1-nil win over Eintracht Frankfurt

Their 4-nil aggregate victory means they will take on Shakhtar Donetsk in the quarters.

Mercedes's Valtteri Bottas has agreed a new deal that will keep him at the F1 team until the end of next season.

The reigning champions made the announcement ahead of the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix this weekend.

Meanwhile, Bottas's teammate Lewis Hamilton says he's reluctant to start contract negotiations at this time.

The Brit reckons feels uncomfortable talking about a big-money contract extension, at a time when so many people are struggling financially due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The English Premier League has voted to bring back the three-substitutes rule for next season, instead of having 5.

The 5 subs rule was introduced when the league returned from the COVID-19 suspension in June, for the welfare of players.

Some clubs wanted the new rule to carry over to the 2020/2021 campaign, but their proposal was voted down in a meeting last night.
