Appeal to reinstate Ziyad's gold medal is rejected

Malaysia’s appeal to reinstate Ziyad Zolkefli’s shot put gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics has been rejected by the organisers.

Any further appeal to higher authorities can only be made after the Games are over.

This, after Ziyad’s gold was revoked due to an alleged technical violation before the start of yesterday’s final.

Despite his disqualification, Malaysian netizens have been flooding social media with words of encouragement for Ziyad…who won the hearts of sports fans by breaking the world record with an impressive performance yesterday.

Man United have asked the Premier League for special permission for Cristiano Ronaldo to use his iconic number seven shirt.

This, after the Portuguese superstar officially completed his move from Juventus.

Edinson Cavani currently uses number seven at United, but is prepared to give it up, to take on the number 21 shirt – which he also uses for Uruguay.

Any mid-season change in jersey numbers requires special approval from the League.
