Italy have set a new record for an unbeaten run by an international football team.

They have now gone 36 games without defeat, following a goalless draw with Switzerland in their World Cup qualifier this morning.

The Italian’s last defeat came all the way back in September 2018.

They have now surpassed Brazil and Spain, with whom they shared the previous unbeaten record of 35 official games.

The World Cup qualifier between Brazil and Argentina has been abandoned over a Covid-19 violation.

This, after four Argentina players from the UK failed to quarantine upon entering Brazil.

Three of them were even named in the starting eleven, prompting health officials to enter the pitch three minutes after kickoff to stop the game.

Malaysian long-jump Paralympic champion Abdul Latif Romly has the full support of his coach, if he chooses to compete in the able-bodied category.

Shahrul Amri Suhaimi says the athlete has his backing regardless of the path he chooses, adding that he will draw up future plans accordingly.

Abdul Latif – who delivered a gold for Malaysia at the Tokyo Paralympics – has competed in the able-bodied category in the past, at the 2017 KL SEA Games.
