Sporting Lisbon have pulled off a major upset in the Champions League by thrashing Man City 4-1 this morning.

Viktor Gyokeres was the star for the Portuguese side with a hattrick against the former winners.

This is the heaviest defeat for the Citizens since September 2020.

There was another surprise over in Spain where holders Real Madrid suffered a 3-1 defeat to AC Milan.

Meanwhile, Luis Diaz netted a hattrick as Liverpool thrashed Bayer Leverkusen 4-0.

The Reds are now top of the standings…with four wins from four matches.

Separately, Martin Odergaard could make an earlier-than-expected return for Arsenal in their Champions League tie against Inter Milan tomorrow.

The midfielder has been out since September with an ankle injury.

In Asian Champions League Elite action…JDT defeated South Korean side Ulsan 3-0.

This is the Southern Tigers second win of the group stage and leaves them third in the standings after four matches.

And, defending champion Novak Djokovic has pulled out of the season-ending ATP Finals because of an injury.
