Aug 11, 2024

paris 2024: azuzulhasni disqualified

Our track cycling head coach admits there was no ground for an appeal for Datuk Azizulhasni Awang’s disqualification in the Paris Olympics Kierin event.

The Pocket Rocketman was disqualified in the first round for overtaking the pace bike before it left the track, and his appeal was rejected.

John Beasley says the rules on the matter are very clear.

Meanwhile, our Chef de Mission says the contingent accepts the decision, and the National Sports Institute will give Azizul the support he needs.

PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has offered his commiserations to the Pocket Rocketman, saying that he is still Malaysia’s gem.

The Youth and Sports Minister says she will prioritise on Azizul’s wellbeing.

All eyes now turn to Shah Firdaus Sahrom, who will comete in the Kierin quarterfinals.

He's our last chance to add to our medals tally, which currently stands at two bronze medals.

--

And Manchester City have won the English Community Shield for the seventh time after beating Man United 7-6 in a penalty shootout.

The game ended 1-1 at the end of regulation time.
