Man City have crashed out of the EFL Cup...after a 2-0 defeat to Southampton in the quarterfinals.

The eight-time winners conceded both goals within the opening 30 minutes and were unable to find a way back.

Another EFL Cup result saw Nottingham Forest edge Wolves 4-3 on penalties, after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

Forest will next play Man United in the semi-finals, while Southampton take on Newcastle.

Elsewhere...Real Madrid advanced to the final of the Spanish Super Cup, beating Valencia 4-3 on penalties, after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.
