Man City keep up the pressure on EPL leaders
Feb 13, 2023
Man City maintained their pressure on leaders Arsenal, after cruising past Aston Villa 3-1.
Rodri, Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez were on the scoresheet, in what was the Citizens’ first game since being charged with breaching over a hundred financial EPL rules.
The result means City remain second in the standings, three points behind the Gunners.
However, City striker Erling Haaland had to be taken off early against Villa after sustaining an injury, leaving him doubtful for the top-of-the-table clash against Arsenal later this week.
Meanwhile, Man United scored twice in the final 10 minutes to beat Leeds 2-0.
Alejandro Garnacho sealed the win for the Red Devils, after Marcus Rashford had headed in his 21st goal of the season in all competitions.

Over in La Liga, Barcelona edged Villareal 1-0 to move 11 points clear at the top of the standings.
Meanwhile, Memphis Depay scored the winner as 10-man Atletico Madrid beat Celta Vigo also by a goal to nil.

The national women’s junior squash team has won the Asian Junior Team Championships after defeating Hong Kong 2-0.
This is their fourth successive victory, having also taken the title in 2015, 2017 and 2019.
