Man City have taken a comfortable lead in the EFL Cup semifinals after a 2-0 victory over holders Newcastle in this morning’s first leg.

New signing Antoine Semenyo was among the scorers with his second goal in as many matches since joining the Citizens.

He’s now the first player since Emmanuel Adebayor in 2009 to score in his first two appearances for the club.

Meanwhile, Chelsea will take on Arsenal in the other semis clash tomorrow.

Over in Spain, a superb Antoine Griezmann free-kick earned Atletico Madrid a 1-0 win over Deportivo La Coruna in the last-16 of the Copa Del Rey.

Man United have confirmed the appointment of Michael Carrick as interim manager until the end of the season, following the sacking of Ruben Amorim.

His first game in charge will be this weekend’s EPL Manchester derby at Old Trafford.

This is Carrick’s second spell in charge of the Red Devils, having taken over for three games on a caretaker basis back in 2021.

The Alpine F1 team has cancelled the contract of Australian driver Jack Doohan, after his poor performances led to him being relegated to reserve driver just six races into the last season.
