Liverpool get their first league win of 2023

Liverpool have won their first EPL match of the calendar year, beating their Merseyside rivals Everton 2-0 this morning.

Cody Gakpo netted his first goal for the Reds in the second half after Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in the first.

The win is only their second in eight matches in all competitions.

It moves Liverpool up to 9th in the standings, a massive 19 points adrift of leaders Arsenal.

Kylian Mbappe has reportedly returned to training ahead of schedule for PSG’s Champions League last 16 tie with Bayern Munich tomorrow morning.

The striker was previously expected to be sidelined for three weeks following a thigh injury he sustained earlier this month.
