Van Gaal warns against taking Man United job
Mar 29, 2022
Man United managerial candidate Erik Ten Hag has been warned to stay away from the Red Devils.
Former United boss Luis Van Gaal says the Old Trafford club are too commercial…and would not be a good fit for Ten Hag.
He suggested his fellow countryman would be better off joining a club that places more emphasis on football, rather than making money.
Ten Hag is believed to be the frontrunner for the United job…with Mauricio Pochettino, Luis Enrique and Julen Lopetegui also under consideration.
Roberto Mancini has hinted that he will stay on as Italy head coach, despite their failure to qualify for the World Cup.
He didn’t explicitly confirm he will be keeping his job, but suggested that talks have gone well with the head of the Italian FA.
Italy’s shock exit last week had triggered speculation that Mancini could be replaced by either Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti, or World Cup-winning captain Fabio Cannavaro.
Real Madrid are reportedly keeping a close eye on Romelu Lukaku.
It follows speculation the striker is unhappy at Chelsea and could be pushing for a summer exit.
Real are now believed to be keeping tabs on the Belgian international…as a backup in case they fail to get either Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
Man United have reportedly opened contract talks with Marcus Rashford.
Insiders say the club sees the striker as a key member of the team for next season, despite failing to lock down a regular place in the starting eleven this campaign.
It also comes amid reports that Arsenal are thinking about making a bid for Rashford this summer.
