Paris 2024: Pearly, Thinaah Book Quarterfinal Ticket

Jul 30, 2024

paris 2024: pearly, thinaah book quarterfinal ticket

Pearly Tan/M. Thinaah are the third Malaysian badminton pair to have booked their place in the Paris Olympic quarterfinals.

This is after they defeated their Indonesian opponents in straight sets in their final Group game.

For the record one of the Indonesian shuttlers, Apriani Rahayu, won gold at the previous Olympics in Tokyo.

Meanwhile, Pearly and Thinaah's victory means that they finished as runners-up in Group A.

--

Our badminton mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei have received a slightly favourable quarterfinal draw at the Paris Olympics.

This is after they were drawn to face Korean pair Kim Won Ho/Jeong Na Eun, who are ranked 8th in the World.

Tang Jie/Ee Wei have a slight advantage going into the game, having beaten the Korean pair twice in their last three encounters.

The winner will face a semifinal clash with either the Korean third seeds, or a pair from Hong Kong.

--

Man City's Julian Alvarez will only decide on his future at the club after Argentina's campaign at the Paris Olympics.

He was recently linked with Atletico Madrid.

--

Fulham have agreed to sign Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe for £27 million.

However, the figure could rise to a club-record £34 million, due to add-ons.
