4 clubs in Europe's top leagues will automatically qualify for the Champions League

Aug 26, 2016

Uefa says the top four European leagues will each have four guaranteed places in the Champions League group stage, when the new season kicks off in 2018.

Under the present system, the top 3 leagues, currently Spain, Germany and England, have 3 places each, while their fourth-placed teams must contest a playoff over 2 legs for a place in the group stage.

Meanwhile, Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri, says he will do his best to guide the Foxes in their first ever Champions League campaign.

"I have have a very good experience in the Champions League," he said "Of course I can give my knowledge to them but it's important they play how they are used to play free and fight."

Leicester have been drawn against Porto, Club Brugge and FC Copenhagen in Group G.
