Defending champion Rafa Nadal has decided not to compete in this month's US tennis Open, citing concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic.

He's the third big name to pull out of the Grand Slam after Australia's Nick Kyrgios and women's world number one Ashleigh Barty.

Roger Federer will also be missing from the tournament as he's still recovering from a knee operation.

It means Novak Djokovic will lead the men's entry list at Flushing Meadows, while Serena Williams has indicated that she will compete in the women's draw.

The Saint hangs up his boots

Former Spain and Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Cassilas has retired from professional football at the age of 39.

He's not played since suffering a heart attack in April last year during training with his club Porto.

Casillas is one of the most highly-decorated players in world football...winning three Champions League and five La Liga titles during his 16-year spell with Real.

He also helped Spain win the 2010 World Cup, and the European Championship in 2008 and 2012.

Fulham are back into the top flight after beating Brentford 2-1 after extra-time in their Championship promotion playoff final this morning.

The Cottagers return to the Premier League after just one season in the second-tier.

Scott Parker's side join Leeds and West Brom in moving up to the Premiership, taking the place of relegated Bournemouth, Watford and Norwich.
