The Williams sisters reach Round 2 in Melbourne

Serena Williams has powered into the second round of the Australian Tennis Open, with an easy 6-love 6-2 win over Germany's Tatjana Maria.

Big sister Venus has also advanced, after beating Romania's Mihaela Buzarnescu in three sets.

The Williams sisters join Johanna Konta, Karolina Pliskova and Elina Svitolina among the big names who moved into Round 2.

Over in the men's draw, Novak Djokovic eased into the second round, after defeating his American opponent in straight sets.

The Serbian joins Kei Nishikori, Alexander Zverev and David Goffin in Round 2.
