The latest on Malaysia ahead of the Asian Games

Jul 24, 2018

Datuk Lee Chong Wei could miss the upcoming World Badminton Championships in China, as well as the Asian Games in Indonesia.

According to Berita Harian, the 36-year-old has been ill since returning from the Indonesian Open earlier this month.

Meanwhile, Chong Wei told Sin Chew, he is still waiting for a doctor's report on his illness.

Separately, a fresh draw for the men's Asian Games football tournament will be held tomorrow.

This, after the UAE and Palestine were left out of the first draw earlier this month, even though they were competing.

Also, Malaysia's medal target for the Asian Games will only be announced, after the head of the national contingent is done meeting with the respective sports organisations.

Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi says they will need to go over each sport's strengths, in order to come up with a realistic target.

Jakarta Palembang 2018 begins on August 18th.
