Wolves post second successive win over Man Utd, Fulham relegated after heavy defeat at Watford

Apr 03, 2019

Man United's hopes of a top-four finish in the Premier League have suffered a blow, after a shock 2-1 defeat to Wolves this morning.

Scott McTominay scored his first goal for the Red Devils to give them the lead, only to see the home side equalise through Diogo Jota.

United then had captain Ashley Young sent off for two yellow cards, before a Chris Smalling own-goal gave Wolves the win.

The result leaves United fifth in the table behind Tottenham and Arsenal, although they've now played one game more than the London clubs.

It was also Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first defeat since becoming permanent manager, and United's second straight loss to Wolves after being knocked out of the FA Cup quarterfinals.

Fulham will spend next season in the Championship, after a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Watford confirmed their relegation from the top flight.

The Cottagers are the second team to go down this season, after Huddersfield.
